ABOUT THIS COURSE
Aims
Teach iBacc introduces the iBacc framework to teachers, with the aim of equipping you with the knowledge, skills, and experience you need to begin practising the three-screen method in your own classroom, so that you can support the pupils you teach to grow in leadership, scholarship, craftsmanship, and citizenship.
Outcomes
When you take the course you will:
- experience your own leadership tendencies against the nine modes of mindful leadership, and get a hands-on feel for a Scholarship, a Craftsmanship, and a Citizenship habit
- theorise about the iBacc framework — its four pillars, the three-screen method, the seven habits, and how the nine modes sit within Screen Three
- plan lessons across all four strands, including how habits reinforce one another and when to hand a learning-habit objective to a student themselves
- facilitate a student’s own self-leadership, using John Heron’s six categories of intervention as your working model
- evaluate learning using iBacc’s existing co-curricular accreditation — Scouting and Duke of Edinburgh awards, graded exams, formal qualifications, leadership viva — alongside your own day-to-day observation
- apply iBacc to your own subject and your own pupils’ needs

Demonstrate iBacc is the final self-directed module and constitutes the course assessment. Assessment involves providing short reflective answers to the key questions associated with the Experience, Theorise, Plan, Facilitate, Evaluate, Apply and Deliver modules, assessed against four criteria:
- Engaged — you have made a genuine attempt to try iBacc out in your own practice
- Understood — you use accurate and relevant iBacc vocabulary (the seven habits, the nine modes, Screen One/Two/Three) correctly
- Assimilated — you can connect what you tried to the wider iBacc framework, not just describe it in isolation
- Reflected — you show genuine reflection on what went well and what you’d do differently
The course outcomes are as follows:
- Certificate of Attendance (100% attendance, i.e. 6/6 modules)
- Option to catch up via video and assessment for those with >66.67% attendance (4/6 or 5/6 modules)
- Option to retake the course for those with <66.67% attendance (1, 2, or 3 modules)
Those with a Certificate of Attendance may apply for a Certificate of Achievement, obtained after completing Deliver and Demonstrate and passing the assessment. You have 12 weeks from the end of Teach iBacc to do this.
